500hr RYT Training Program
New for 2008, this 500 hour RYT (Registered Yoga Teacher) training program
will explore Yoga as a healing art. Our working text will be the Hatha Yoga
Pradipika, the classic manual on Hatha Yoga written in the 15th century,
which describes asanas (postures), purifying practices (shatkarma), mudras
(mental "seals" as well as hand positions), bandhas (locks), pranayama
(breath exercises), and meditation techniques. As we explore and practice
from this historical text, we will add western anatomical studies, the
science of stretching, mindful hands-on assists, vinyasa yoga sequencing,
and more, with the goal of developing the skills to effectively promote
healing and wellness in yoga classes and in private yoga therapy sessions.
40 hr Rasa Yoga Teacher Training
Rasa Yoga is a style of yoga unique to Dover
Yoga which focuses on working with one of the nine major rasas, or sacred
juices that sustain our life, through an entire flowing yoga class. The nine
rasas we will explore are:
shringara: love, vibhatsa: dissatisfaction, shanta: peace, vira:strength,
bhayanaka: fear, hasya: joy, raudra: anger, karuna: sadness, & adbhuta:
wonder. Rasa classes incorporate
yogic philosophy & discussion, chanting, pranayama, meditation, cleansing
kriyas and asana flows from beginner to advanced. Students often remark that
these classes are complete in nature and leave the body expanded and the
mind grounded. The training counts for CEU credits with the Yoga Alliance.
This teacher training is
offered only to those who are already teaching yoga or have instructor
permission.
